Our Story

AndeArte was born from a question: What if we could stay and build?

Founder Natalia Camargo experienced firsthand the challenges of accessing meaningful artistic opportunities in Latin America. AndeArte is her response: a space rooted in Colombian and Latin American strengths, designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and sustainable artistic growth.

We believe in building bridges, not walls, connecting local communities with global ecosystems, and reimagining what it means to belong to “America”: North, Central, and South. AndeArte is an invitation to create together, honoring our roots while reaching towards each other.

AndeArte is led by a passionate team of composers, educators, and arts advocates dedicated to amplifying Latin American voices, fostering creativity, and building cross-cultural connections. Our team combines artistic vision with community-rooted leadership to create programs that support Colombian artists and engage audiences across Colombia and the United States.

Founder & Artistic Director

Natalia Camargo Duarte

Natalia Camargo Duarte is a Colombian composer and cultural producer based in New York City, and the founder of AndeArte. While her roots are in music, her work extends beyond the stage into the spaces where art meets community, identity, and transformation.

AndeArte emerged from her questioning of the traditional role of the composer and the disconnect between formal training and the needs of the world. In school, composers are often framed as solitary geniuses, competitive, institutional, and detached. Natalia envisioned an alternative: composing not just music for concert halls, but space, trust, and moments of connection, belonging, and transformation.

As Artistic Director, she brings this expanded vision of artistry into the design of AndeArte’s programs and collaborations. Her work with organizations such as Carnegie Hall, American Composers Orchestra, American Composers Forum, and National Sawdust has shaped both her creative thinking and her approach to building community-rooted, sustainable arts ecosystems.

AndeArte is Natalia’s response - a space for restoration, experimentation, and reimagination, bridging Latin America with global artistic communities, and empowering artists to shape culture with care and intention.

Artistic Advisor & Collaborator

Andrés Bonilla

Andrés Bonilla is a Colombian composer whose music explores the intersection of Western classical traditions, Latin American rhythms, and experimental soundscapes. Originally from Bogotá, he grew up in a humble environment and was the first in his family to complete high school and pursue higher education — experiences that shaped both his artistic voice and social vision.

His work blends the timbral, textural, and rhythmic worlds of classical music and rock with the vibrant colors of Latin American folk traditions such as cumbia, currulao, and bambuco. Bonilla’s compositional style reflects his upbringing in a dynamic urban setting and his academic journey across multiple disciplines and cultures.

Andrés is is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition at the University at Buffalo, integrating Latin American sounds, extended instrumental techniques, and classical frameworks. His compositions, performed in Colombia, Europe, and the United States, often address contemporary social issues and aim to foster meaningful human connections through sound.

At AndeArte, Bonilla serves as an artistic advisor and collaborator, providing mentorship, creative guidance, and support to emerging composers while helping shape the organization’s artistic vision. A firm believer in the transformative power of art, his philosophy is rooted in contemplative activism, seeking change through reflection, community, and artistic engagement.
